In case you missed it, East Northport’s star runner was featured by ESPN’s award-winning primetime sports magazine in a documentary that aired Tuesday night.

The 19-year-old runner, who has autism, became one of the nation’s top prep runners during his time at Northport High School, but “his spirit, not his speed, that makes him unforgettable,” the documentary explains.

E:60 followed Brannigan to Hayward Field in Eugene, OR, a city known as “Tracktown USA,” for the Prefontaine Classic, where the teen toed the line to race against the best boy high school milers in the country.

More on Brannigan:

Once the gun goes off, the documentary transitions to a flashback of Brannigan’s childhood and details how his family learned that Brannigan had autism when he was 2 years old.

At age 8, Brannigan joined a local running team for athletes with disabilities, which is where he discovered his talent for running.

Fast forward to high school, Brannigan broke state records, became a national champion and was undoubtedly one of the fiercest competitors in the nation.

The documentary, which was shared on Youtube, ends with Brannigan leading the Boys Elite Mile down the final homestretch. The video cuts out before the finish line, but the final results can be found here.
