NYACK PSYCHOTHERAPIST CHERYL ADLER TO READ FROM HER NEW BOOK, Sober University Your Next Step to Successful Recovery

Nyack psychotherapist and author Cheryl Adler will host two book signings for her new book, Sober University Your Next Step to Successful Recovery, in Nyack and Piermont.  On Thursday, April 7 at Noon, Cheryl will be at Piermont’s Diplomat Health and Swim Club at 1101 Overlook Circle, and again on Sunday, April 10 at 1:30 pm at the Nyack Business Center at 99 Main Street in Nyack, New York.

Sober University offers the reader a thought-provoking look into Cheryl’s work counseling clients struggling with a wide range of addictions including alcohol, drugs, eating disorders, gambling, and destructive relationships. The book is a resource for those in treatment or challenged with relapses, as well as for families dealing with a loved one’s addiction.  Divided into courses, the 400-page book offers an insightful and holistic approach for designing a personalized plan for recovery. Its premise is that a true and lasting recovery from any addiction is possible.  Believing that each course of treatment is as individual and unique as the person’s road to that addiction, Cheryl explained, “cookie-cutter programs can be short-lived, and one size does not fit most.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Cheryl Adler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Diplomate and Fellow with the American Psychotherapy Association (DAPA, FAPA).  With a master’s degree in Special Education, Cheryl has worked with developmentally challenged children, brain-injured adolescents and adults, and people with chronic and terminal illness. Cheryl is an OASAS approved Treatment Provider for the State of New York (Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services) and member of the National Association of Social Workers.
