Central Nyack Man Hit by Car, Seriously Injured

He was walking near the McDonalds on Route 59.

A pedestrian struck by a car in Central Nyack at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday is in Nyack Hospital with serious head injuries, Clarkstown police said.

Police called to Route 59 near the McDonalds, about 50 yards from Mountain View Avenue, found a man lying in the roadway being tended to by a good samaritan.

He was unresponsive.

CPR was initiated by the passerby and a Clarkstown officer. The victim was revived and transported to Nyack Hospital for treatment, including serious head injuries.

Police learned that the pedestrian, a 49-year-old Central Nyack resident, had been struck by a four-door Subaru which was driving west on Route 59.

The Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team came to the scene to reconstruct the incident. Police said no summonses or arrests have been issued at this time.
