Christmas Burglar, Argument and more: Indictments

A Rockland grand jury handed down six indictments Jan. 7 against residents of Spring Valley, Haverstraw, Suffern and Englewood, NJ.

  • Johnnie Charles, 38, of Spring Valley was indicted Jan. 7, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe said that on or about Dec. 25 Charles entered a residence on Division Avenue in Spring Valley intending to commit a crime. He fled when he found the homeowners were home.
  • Daryl Griffin of Englewood, NJ, 54, was indicted on Jan. 7 for the crime of Criminal Contempt in the 1st and 2nd Degree. Zugibe said Griffen violated an order of protection Dec. 25 by threatening the victim during an argument.
  • Ronaldo Maldonado-Crespin, 18, of Suffern was indicted Jan. 7 for the crime of Burglary in the 3rd Degree. Zugibe said he broke into a florist shop located in the Village of Suffern at 4:30 a.m. June 23, 2014.
  • Miguel Rivera, 58, of Haverstraw was indicted Jan. 7 for the crime of Attempted Arson in the 2nd Degree. Zugibe said between October 28 and November 3, 2014, the defendant started a fire in a closet of an Adult Care home located in the Village of Haverstraw while other residents were in the building.
  • Jimmy Rodriguez, 22, of Spring Valley was indicted Jan. 7 for the crime of Burglary in the 2nd Degree (2 Counts). Zugibe said on Sept. 17, 2014 he broke into a home in Spring Valley and ran off with a duffle bag in which he dropped when surprised by the homeowner. On Oct. 11, 2014, he also broke into a home in Garnerville and stole property consisting of a laptop and other items.
  • Roberto Torres, 54, of Spring Valley was indicted on Jan. 7 for the crime of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree (6 counts). Zugibe said between September 2 and September 3, 2014, the defendant possessed six stolen credit and debit cards with the intent to benefit himself.
