Controversial Videos about Judaism Banned from Nyack Curriculum

The two videos were created by California-based educational company Study.com.

Two videos deemed insensitive in their depictions of Judaism have been banned from Nyack schools, according to district officials.

The Journal News reports that “Monotheism: Islam, Judaism and Christianity” and “Hebrews and Their Beliefs,” both created by California-based educational company Study.com, have been removed from the curriculum. Among the criticisms of the videos, they were found to be “historically inaccurate” and one made Jews appear to be aloof.

“On behalf of the Nyack Board of Education, administrators, and teachers, I extend my deepest apologies to our students, families and community,” Nyack Schools Superintendent James Montesano wrote in an email to parents, as reported by The Journal News. “Be assured that we have been in contact with the company that produced the videos to express our concerns and have prohibited their videos from being used in our classrooms.”
