Daylight Saving 2018: When Nyack Clocks Move Forward

Winter is almost over, we promise. Get ready to move your clocks ahead, Piermont.

NYACK, NY — You can tell spring is right around the corner because it's almost time to change our clocks for Daylight Saving Time again. Officially the time change is 2 a.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018. If you have an analog clock — the kind that doesn't automatically change like a smartphone or a cable box does — you will probably want to advance the time by an hour before you turn in for the night.

"Spring forward," right?

Besides losing an hour of sleep, you'll notice that the sun rises later in the morning and sets later in the evening.

Also, this is the time of year to remember to change the batteries in your home's smoke detectors, that is, if you haven't already bought the new smoke- and CO-detecting devices mandated now in the state of New York.

Starting in 2017, stores were only allowed to sell detectors with a power source that can't be removed and lasts about 10 years.
