Dying to Bloom to Mark Day of the Dead & All Souls’ Day

Memorial Candle-making Workshop on Friday, November 2nd, to precede Monthly Death Café on Sunday, November 4th

Nyack, NY (October 23, 2018) – Dying to Bloom, Nyack’s natural burial boutique, will be commemorating The Day of the Dead and All Souls’ Day with a memorial candle-making workshop at the boutique on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 7 PM – 8:30 PM. That will be followed by Dying to Bloom’s monthly Death Café on Sunday, November 4, 2018.

Originally celebrated in Mexico, The Day of the Dead is marked with family and friends gathering to celebrate and remember those who have died, helping to support their spiritual journey. All Souls’ Day memorializes the souls of Christians who have died, and is celebrated November second, following All Saints’ Day and Halloween.

Dying to Bloom’s Memorial Candle-making Workshop will feature a short, guided meditation followed by a brief introduction of essential oils. Participants will be able to create their own essential oil memory candle.

“Remembering, mourning and ultimately celebrating those whom we have lost can be therapeutic for those of us who need to move on in life after a loved one has departed. A thoughtful and healing ceremony can help us to do this and proceed with our lives in a more respectful and positive way,” said Soledad Soriano-Kaplan, Certified Aromatherapist, Counselor and Meditation Instructor.

“I encourage people to bring a photo or personal memento of the deceased to share with the group. We’ll meditate to help connect with your higher self. The candles we create will make beautiful memorials to remember that special someone or pet who has passed,” said Kerry Potter, Founder, Dying to Bloom.

“Death Cafés” feature group-directed, agenda-free discussions of topics surrounding death, fears, ideas and life itself.
