A HUDSON RIVER JOURNEY: 1609-2109

This traveling exhibit, created by RIVERKEEPER, contains original artwork, historic artifacts, maps and digital media, and tells a story of the river over time and into the future.  The visitor travels to distinct regions of the river (NY Harbor to Troy), during three time periods: pre-contact (1609 and before), current era (industrial revolution to present day), and future (2011 to 2109), and experiences river stories relevant to each.

In conjunction with the exhibit, on Sunday, August 7th, at 2 p.m., RIVERKEEPER will bring us a special screening of GASLAND, the award-winning documentary film by Josh Fox that explores the process of hydraulic fracturing used in the extraction of natural gas reserves across the country and its potential effect on our water supply.  The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Mackenzie Shoonmaker, staff attorney for RIVERKEEPER'S WATERSHED TEAM, who works with a range of watershed issues.  Bring all your questions for a thorough and very timely discussion!
