The Persistence of Hopper: The Female Figure in the Paintings of Young Women Artists Today: A Lecture by Charlie Finch with Emily Weiskopf

Mr. Finch will explore Hopper's influence on the young, figurative women artist of today.  Hopper's placement of women figures evokes a sense of yearning and isolation that is present in the work of many successful contempoary female artists.

Charlie Finch has been a senior critic of Artnet Worldwide since 1997, where he publishes 120 columns a year.   He also contributes to "ArtAsiaPacific," "ArtGermany," and "The Paris Review."  He is curating "The Last Gesture: Abstraction in the 21st Century" opening May 4, 2011 at David Hall Fine Art in Wellesley, MA.

Emily Weiskopf is a painter who holds an MFA from the Tyler School of Art and is a professor at Three Rivers Community College, Norwich, CT.  Her next exhibition, "The Last Gesture", opens at David Hall Gallery Wellesley, MA on May 4, 2011
