Former Rocklander Sentenced In Daylight Nyack Slaying
The shooting led to a multi-state manhunt.
NYACK, NY — A former Haverstraw resident was sentenced yesterday to 20 years in prison for killing Nyack resident Ryan Franklin in 2020, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh announced.
Charged initially with murder, Jason Jabouin, who had become a North Carolina resident, had pleaded guilty in May to one count of first-degree manslaughter.
Jabouin shot 30-year-old Ryan Franklin two times at 10 a.m. May 22, 2o20 on South Midland Avenue. Franklin was found dying on the street by police. Jabouin fled the state, but was picked up the following day in Maryland after a traffic stop.

“Today’s sentencing hopefully brings closure to the family and friends of Ryan Franklin, whose life tragically was taken away by senseless violence," Walsh said. "I want to commend Police Chief Donald Butterworth and the men and women of the Orangetown Police Department on their outstanding professionalism and tireless work throughout the entire investigation.”
He was also sentenced to five years post-release supervision.
