Free Tax Prep by AARP Volunteers for Middle, Low-Income Rocklanders in, near Nyack and Piermont
The United Way of Rockland''s CA$H program targets residents for whom the gap between take-home wages and essential expenses is growing.

NYACK, NY — Coming up, it's Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day, when, every year across the nation, free tax programs assist income-eligible families to file their taxes and make sure they get back their EITC/Child Care Tax Credits.
Last year those two tax credit programs lifted 9 million people out of poverty, half of whom were children, said officials from the United Way of Rockland County. Locally, last year more than $1 million was returned in Earned Income Tax Credits and Child Care Tax Credits in Rockland County.
Again this year, The United Way of Rockland County and AARP have teamed up to expand their outreach and help even more people receive the tax credits for which they are eligible.

“The goal is to increase the EITC/Child Care Tax Credit dollar number every year,” said Mimi Vilord, President and CEO of the United Way. “Not only do the refunds bring added relief to struggling residents, but most dollars are spent in the County and thus support the local economy.”
CA$H – Creating Assets, Savings and Hope - provides free tax preparation by AARP Tax-Aide certified volunteers to all taxpayers with middle and low incomes, including those who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. In addition to free tax preparation, United Way volunteers will be on site with information on programs and services offered in the County and to assist in determining benefit eligibility.
