Man Who Fell to His Death at the Palisades Mall Was a Former Congers Resident
William Gunnerson was 54.

The Clarkstown Police Department has identified the victim of the fatal fall that occurred Oct. 30 at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack.
William Gunnerson, 54, originally from Congers, NY died as a result of his injuries sustained from the tragic fall from the third floor escalator to the ground floor.
He was a resident at a group home run by NY Foundling. With two other residents and a staff member, he was on a day trip to experience being out in the community. He lost his balance while leaning against the moving banister of the escalator between the third and fourth floor, and was carried up and over. The staff member grabbed for him but couldn’t catch him, police said.
