New Equipment for South Nyack With $500K Grant

The money is coming from the Community Benefits Program.

SOUTH NYACK, NY — The Village of South Nyack has received a New York State $597,209 grant through the Community Benefits Program.

"Our South Nyack/Grand View Police Department, Department of Public Works and the Village Hall will all benefit from this grant," Mayor Bonnie Christian told residents in an email. "The monies will be used to purchase updated vehicles and equipment including a much needed new generator for the Village Hall."

The Community Benefits Program is part of the New NY Bridge Project. Through the CBP, the New NY Bridge project provides grants to selected projects that:

  • Preserve and rehabilitate local infrastructure in the area of the New NY Bridge;
  • Enhance local recreational opportunities in the area;
  • Expand pedestrian, bicyclist and transit user access to the new bridge;
  • Improve road safety features for all users accessing the new bridge;
  • Enhance emergency response in the area; or
  • Will otherwise have a positive impact on the quality of life for residents and communities in Rockland and Westchester Counties
