Nyack Farmers Market To Open For Season Outdoors
The outdoor market will run, rain or shine, through Nov. 29.

NYACK, NY — Get ready to head to the Nyack Farmers Market this week when it set up for business outdoors. After spending the winter inside at the Nyack Center, the market will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays, beginning this week — April 5.
The market will run, rain or shine, through Nov. 29.
Opening day will feature live music from Greg Jacquin, performing from 11 a.m. to noon.

The Nyack Farmers Market is operated by the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, and all market participants are chamber members.
Attracting upwards of 1,000 shoppers every Thursday, organizers said the market’s more than 40 regular and rotating vendors offer a broad array of local products — including cut flowers; farm fresh/organic fruits and vegetables; free-range eggs; fresh fish, poultry and meats; pickles, sauerkraut and olives; fresh baked goods; honey and maple syrup; coffee; gluten-free baked goods; hummus and Middle Eastern delicacies; handmade cheeses; fine local wines and more. Shoppers can also get their cooking tools up to snuff with help from X-Calibur Knife and Scissor Sharpener.

Music, visual art, nutrition education and lots of fun for the kids are weekly features at the market. This season, fiddler Ian Moore will regale children of all ages with song, dance and traditional storytelling every week from 11:00am to noon.
Returning for a fourth year, Cornell Cooperative Extension Rockland County will be at the market every week offering a variety of rotating programs presented by the Master Gardener Volunteers and the nutrition educator from Eat Smart NY. Environmental education will be another featured program, focused on educating the public about the Hudson River fish advisory.
The Master Gardener Volunteers will continue to host their “Ask the Master Gardener” table, providing advice and demonstrations on home gardening, composting, school gardening and other horticultural topics. The Eat Smart New York nutrition educator will alternate workshops on a variety of topics, including quick, healthy meals and snacks, eating healthy on a budget, and making healthy eating part of a total lifestyle.
Topping off the Market’s 2018 roster, Chef-in- Residence Michelle Timothee of La Talaye Catering will continue to serve up a delicious recipe creation every week focusing on fresh ingredients from local sources.
