Parking In South Nyack: Upcoming Forum

SOUTH NYACK, NY — South Nyack will hold a workshop May 16 about parking in the village. As the opening of the pedestrian and bicycle path over the Tappan Zee nears, village officials and residents want to have a modicum of control.
"The Board and I encourage you to attend and provide your valuable input about parking within our Village," Mayor Bonnie Christian said in an email to residents.

Representatives from Chazen Companies, the parking consultant hired by the Village, will be
present to gather feedback from the community regarding these questions and other points you might wish to raise:
- What is the critical parking issue in South Nyack?
- Should daily parking be permitted on all streets in South Nyack?
- Should there be costs for on-street parking?
- Should the current two-hour parking restriction be changed?
WHEN: 7-9 p.m. May 16 at the fire house on Depot Place, South Nyack.

The opening of the Mario Cuomo Bridge's pedestrian/bicycle walkway (aka Shared Use Path/SUP) between Tarrytown and South Nyack will attract many visitors. A New York state study estimated the Shared Use Path could draw 473 visitors per hour, during peak hours.
The Rockland Landing will be in South Nyack, albeit inside the Exit 10 interchange of the New York State Thruway.
