South Nyack Packing Up, Saying Goodbye

The dissolution of the village will be final in three months.

SOUTH NYACK, NY — As the process of disbanding the village enters its final phases, South Nyack Mayor Bonnie Christian sent a note Thursday to members of the police force and public works department.

The Trustees and I would like to thank our Police Department for watching over our village throughout the years! We are grateful to all of our current and former Police Chiefs and Officers for their dedication to protecting our community and for the caring, responsive manner in which they did this.
In addition, the Trustees and I would like to thank our Department of Public Works for the outstanding service they have provided to us throughout the years! Our DPW staff has always gone above and beyond to meet the needs of our village and we are grateful for their commitment to exceptional service.
We wish all of the members of the Police Department and Department of Public Works happiness, success, and good health in the days to follow.
Dissolution isn't final until March 31, but the town of Orangetown will cover police and sanitation after Dec. 31.

Meanwhile, village officials have put Village Hall and the DPW complex as well as equipment up for sale. The Journal News reported the proceeds are to cover the village's $770,000 debt in bonds.
