American pianist Michael Noble gave his first recital when he was six and has gone on to perform concerts across Europe, Asia, and North America. He is a prizewinner of numerous competitions including the Grand Prize at the Carmel Music Society Piano Competition (Carmel, CA), Gold Medal at the Crescendo Music Awards (Tulsa, OK), and two-time laureate of the Chopin International Competition of the 1000 Islands.
Michael has been called “a pianist to remember,” by Het Nieuwsblad (Ghent, Belgium) and his playing has been hailed as “poetic” ( Het Nieuwsblad ) “elegant, stylish and powerful” by the Peninsula News (California), and “excellent” by the Tulsa World (Oklahoma). He has performed in venues including Carnegie’s Weill and Zankel halls, the
Bulgarian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Historisches Kaufhaus in Freiburg, Germany and as soloist with the Tulsa Symphony and the Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra. Additionally, he has worked with the most renowned artists in the field including Gary Graffman, Claude Frank, Christopher Elton, John O’Conor, Ursula Oppens, John Perry, Boris Berman, Hung-Kuan Chen and Robert McDonald.
In 2008, Michael attended the Paris Conservatoire to work with Nicholas Angelich. Following this, he obtained his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Bachelor of Arts in English cum laude from the Eastman School of Music and University of Rochester respectively where he was a student of Nelita True. He received his Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts at the Yale School of Music where he worked with Peter Frankl
and Melvin Chen and is now a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts there.
Michael recently completed a one-year residency in Ghent, Belgium as a fellow of the Belgian American Educational Foundation where he focused on contemporary music with political connotations under the guidance of Daan Vandewalle. During the past season, Michael performed throughout the United States, Thailand and Western Europe. The current season will see him concertizing throughout the United States, Canada, Belgium and Germany.
