Temple Members Step Up To Help Rockland's Needy
Beth Am Temple congregants donated warm clothing and new toiletries for needy and homeless individuals in Spring Valley.

In just three weeks, Beth Am Temple congregants donated enough warm clothing and toiletries to fill dozens of large bags and boxes for 100 needy and homeless individuals in the Spring Valley area. The Pearl River temple’s Social Action Committee launched its second annual collection drive in mid-November and by early December received a large amount of contributions to distribute at the Spring Valley United Methodist Church.
Temple volunteers provided new and gently worn clothing and travel-size toiletries, sorted and delivered the items to the church and arranged them on tables and racks. On Dec. 7th, people attending the church’s Helping Hands hot breakfast and take away lunch program picked out winter clothing and other necessities.
Beth Am’s donors and volunteers included: Social Action Committee co-chairs Diane Sussman and Bobbi Chertok, Harvey Chertok, Marilyn Cohen, Carolyn Fink, David Friehling, Mark and Denise Goldschmidt, Cantor Marcy Kadin, Fran Kalman, Helene Katz, Snoonie Loeb, Leslie Shapiro, Wendy Slotnick, Robin Traum, Robert Sussman, Amy Wexler, Irene Zeig and Cantor Emerita Geri and Hans Zeller.
