Done: Tappan Zee Bridge Demolition
All lanes have reopened on the New York State Thruway, police said.

11:26 a.m. — All lanes have reopened on the New York State Thruway, police said.
But it's not really the end of the old Tappan Zee Bridge, yet. The westernmost anchor span is still there. Plus, following the demolition, portions of the old east anchor span will be visible above the water line. These portions will remain visible as the span is removed from the Hudson River.
10:55 a.m. — Crews have driven onto the new bridge to check its safety after controlled explosions on the legs of unstable east anchor span of the old TZB brought it down.

TARRYTOWN, NY – The operation to bring down the unstable east anchor span of the old Tappan Zee Bridge with a controlled explosion is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
It's a 6500-ton section, and it was found to be unstable back in September.

Buses across the Hudson River are on modified schedules, stopping runs after about 9:20 a.m. and planning to pick back up with scheduled runs after 11 a.m. Check the Hudson Link alerts for the exact schedules for all bus lines.
Motorists traveling or trying to get onto I-287 and the New York State Thruway will be stopped at 10 a.m. Crews will close entrance ramps to the northbound/westbound Thruway at:
- Exit 9 (Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow-Route 9)
- Route 110 in Elmsford
- Saw Mill Parkway (Exit 22)
Entrance ramps to the southbound/eastbound Thruway will also be closed at:
- Exit 10 (Nyack-South Nyack-US Route 9W)
- Exit 11 in Nyack (Nyack-South Nyack-US Route 9W)
State police will also be stopping traffic in both directions at 10 a.m. on I-87/I-287 between Exit 11 in Nyack (Nyack-South Nyack-US Route 9W) and Exit 9 (Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow-Route 9) for about 45 minutes.
State police will reopen the ramps and release traffic after Tappan Zee Contractors has determined that the area is safe.
Expect severe delays. The ripple effect will spread to local roads and alternate highways across the river and to and from New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The Tappan Zee Bridge opened to traffic in 1955 and, until its retirement on October 6, 2017, was a vital artery for residents, commuters, travelers and commercial traffic. Bridge traffic grew to about 140,000 vehicles per day in 2016, far more than the Tappan Zee was designed to support.
The bridge's replacement, the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, fully opened to traffic in September.
