Remember Nyack native Welles Remy Crowther, hero of the attacks on the twin towers.

NYACK, NY — On the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, remember Nyack native Welles Remy Crowther, who died while rescuing other victims in the World Trade Center.
Crowther graduated from Nyack High School in 1995 and received a degree in Economics from Boston College. He was also a firefighter with Upper Nyack's Empire Hook & Ladder Co., No. 1, and worked with an investment banking firm in the towers when the September 11 attacks took place. Crowther called his mom to say he was OK, but then opted to stay and aid those in need. Eyewitnesses told how a man in a red bandanna directed and carried several people to safety—the man was later identified as Crowther.
“You heard this man's voice say, ‘I found the stairs. Follow me,’” Ling Young, one of those survivors, said in a powerful and poignant video from ESPN.
