West Nyack ShopRite Store to Host “Help Bag Hunger” Event

Community volunteers will be bagging groceries and giving customers a chance to donate to local food pantries.

WHO: Inserra Supermarkets at its 22 stores located throughout New Jersey and New York

WHAT: will be collecting monetary donations to help fill the shelves of local community food banks and charities, while community volunteers bag groceries for customers in an effort to raise awareness of food insecurity in their neighborhoods.

  • Garnerville: 1 – 4 p.m.
  • New City: 12 – 1 p.m.
  • Stony Point: 1 p.m.
  • Tallman: 10 a.m.
  • West Nyack: 10:30 a.m.

WHY: Raising help and hope for the hungry is a top priority for ShopRite associates, who band together during National Hunger Awareness Month in September. They collect monetary donations used to fill the pantries of local charities. Those include food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, child care centers, battered women’s shelters, senior citizen programs, drug rehab centers, programs for the mentally and physically disabled, after-school programs and other organizations that aid those in need.

SIGNIFICANCE: “Help Bag Hunger” is part of the ShopRite Partners In Caring Program. Since the program’s inception in 1999, more than $40 million has been donated to 1,700+ charities in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
