When is Daylight Saving Time Over in Nyack and Piermont?

Clocks in most parts of the U.S. change twice a year.

It is time to start thinking “fall back” into Standard Time.

Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, which means you’ll want to turn your clocks back before you go to bed Saturday night, Oct. 31.

Daylight Saving Time 2015 is the practice of setting the clocks forward one hour from Standard Time during the summer months, and back again in the fall, in order to make better use of natural daylight.

The thought that the practice saves money and energy, the rationale behind Daylight Saving Time, is in doubt by many.

An article on the National Geographic website said a study of Indiana, which up until 2006 had counties that did and did not observe the practice, found that lighting demand did drop when Daylight Saving Time goes into effect but the savings were offset by the use of more air-conditioning.

There have even been studies that say the change in time changes biological rhythms, increasing the risk of heart attacks, the National Geographic reported.

The good news for the early risers is that sunrise will be about an hour earlier and there will be more light in the mornings. However, evening commutes will be much darker, because the sun will set at 4:53 p.m.

The daylight will dwindle over the next two months as we head into winter.

Arizona (except for the Navajo Nation lands), Puerto Rico, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa do not observe Daylight Saving Time.
