Advisories Issued Monday Across The Hudson Valley For New Storm

Here are the latest details about what to expect tonight and tomorrow.

The third storm to hit the lower Hudson Valley in two weeks could drop 4 more inches of snow on the six counties by Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service issued Winter Weather Advisories Monday morning for Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester counties.

It's a big storm, and though its biggest impacts are expected in Connecticut and eastern Long Island, forecasters are alert for slight shifts in its track.

"Considering our location in relation to the center of the storm… things could get interesting late Monday night and Tuesday," said Bill Potter and Alex Marra of Hudson Valley Weather.

The NWS in its Monday morning briefing said to expect snow from 8 p.m. Monday to noon on Tuesday. In the Hudson Valley, winds should only reach about 20 mph.

Plan on slippery road conditions, specially during the morning commute on Tuesday. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

Also, vulnerable spots along the Long Island Sound could see flooding, the NWS said.

So far in March, two nor'easters have wreaked havoc on the electrical power delivery system across the Hudson Valley. The first storm left about 360,000 customers without electricity, some of them for more than a week. The second knocked out power to about 130,000.
