Power Outages: 128K+ Without Electricity After Latest Storm

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Thousands of people were without power before the latest nor’easter made it snow-laden way into the region, and thousands are without power Thursday, after the storm moved out. More than 128,000 customers in the lower and mid-Hudson Valley are waiting for their electricity to be restored.
Con Edison is reporting more than 27,000 without power as of 10:30 a.m. While some of the smaller communities have a scattered collection of outages, the Town of Yorktown has 2,100, Scarsdale has 1,600 and the Town of North Castle and City of New Rochelle both have around 2,400.
Con Ed is listing the estimated time of restoration for all its customers as Friday, March 9 at 11 p.m.

There are more than 36,000 NYSEG customers in the lower and mid-Hudson Valley waiting for the lights to come back on. Westchester has more than 18,000; Putnam, 17,000; Dutchess, 714 and Ulster, 3.
The estimated restoration time for the vast majority of outages is listed as “assessing” by the power company.

Almost 28,000 O&R customers are without electricity in the wake of Wednesday’s storm. Rockland County is bearing the brunt with more than 20,000 households without power. Orange County has more than 7,500.
The utility’s estimated restoration is listed as “Damage Assessment in Progress.”
Central Hudson said, in a press release Thursday morning, that service has been restored to more than 22,000 customers. As of Thursday morning, more than 37,000 customers remain without electrical service, primarily in Ulster and Dutchess counties, which both have more than 14,000 affected customers. Orange has almost 7,000, and Putnam has 2,300.
There are more than 650 reported damage locations.
Restoration times are pending, Central Hudson’s website said.
