(January 25, 2016) Assemblywoman Sandy Galef interviews Alana Sweeny, President and CEO of United Way, Mary Ann Luna, Vice President for Community Alliances of United Way of Westchester Putnam, and Lini Jacob, Senior Vice President of 2-1-1 Hudson Valley, on her television show, Dear Sandy. The interview focuses on the activities of the organization, including education and finance.

United Way unites government, non-profit, and community organizations to provide assistance for their programs, which has been especially helpful with programs to help children learn to read. One of their other programs aims to provide financial education for adults. They also discuss the 2-1-1 program, which is a system provided by United Way that provides help with questions from recycling to finding food pantries.

“United Way provides so much to our area,” said Galef, “I think it is incredible to see an organization take on the challenges of providing so many different forms of assistance to the people who need it most.”
