Assemblywoman Sandy Galef Hosts Assistant Attorney General Gary Brown on “Speak Out”

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef speaks with Gary Brown, Assistant Attorney General-in-Charge for New York State of the Westchester Region about the ongoing issue of scams on her television program, “Speak Out.”

During the discussion they talk about the motives of different scammers, how to tell if something is a scam, and how to avoid scams altogether. They discuss the behind-the-scenes of scams, how they operate and get addresses, and phone numbers. Gary Brown tells of how to completely avoid scams: do not pick up the phone if you don’t know the number.

“We as Americans are under siege by all kinds of scams,” said Gary Brown, “…prevention is really the key, we have to learn what the scammers are doing and how we can avoid becoming a victim…” Scams are very hard to overcome once you are involved, this discussion can help provide an insight into the inner workings of scam artists.
