Author Marilyn Johnson will be at the Ossining Public Library on February 4th to discuss her new book "Lives in Ruins" at 7 p.m.
Well-reviewed author Marilyn Johnson will discuss her third book, “Lives in Ruins: Archaeologists and the Seductive Lure of Human Rubble” at the Ossining Public Library, Wednesday, February 4th at 7 p.m.
The book has been widely praised by The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and Salon. It was crowned one of Publishers Weekly’s 100 Best Books of 2014.
“Lives in Ruins” explores the challenging job that many archaeologists face in places including the Caribbean, Machu Picchu, Rhode Island and Fishkill, N.Y. Johnson, a former editor of Esquire and writer for Life, wrote two previous books: “The Dead Beat,” about the art of obituary writing, and “This Book Is Overdue!” about libraries in a digital age.
