Bidding Farewell to Captain Craven

OSSINING, NY — Scott Craven, who initiated community policing in Ossining before it was cool, retired Thursday after 21 years with the department.

And by the way, policing has not been his only interest in the village, by a long shot.

A historian with detailed knowledge of the Hudson and Croton rivers and Ossining itself, he is a constant on the local lecture circuit. And he gave a great introduction to the new Greenway in the Sing Sing Kill last summer.
