Tutoring sessions How long Should they be?
Find out how long the tutoring session should be before you commit to a long term contract. Many tutors will meet with you first, to get to know you and your childs' needs.
Parents sometimes ask,"How long should my tutoring sessions be?"
This depends on the age of the child. Young children Pre-K, K, 1st and maybe 2nd grade should be no more than 30 minutes.
3rd, 4th, 5th grade - 45 minutes

6th and above - 1 hour.
These are general guidelines for tutoring session. If you are unsure about how much time, ask your tutor to do a session according to the guidelines above and evaluate after the session. If the tutor feels that they can handle more time, at the next session, adjust accordingly. Or if the tutor feels that they cannot handle more time, then readjust the time. It all depends on the child.

If you have more than 1 subject that your child needs help, you could have the tutor work on 1 subject per session. For example: 1 30 minute session (math) and 1 30 minute session (reading) per week.
