Brutal Cold: Hudson Valley's Work Week Weather
Temps will be well below normal and the wind chill will be fierce. Here's why.

The snow from the weekend's back-to-back-to-back storms may not melt as quickly as you'd think. The temperature starts sliding Monday afternoon. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, highs will be in the mid- to high 20s.
Plus, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night, temperatures will dip into the teens, enough to freeze anything wet and create black ice in the early morning on roads and sidewalks.
Why oh why?

"A lobe of the polar vortex broke loose and spun southward over the weekend," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist, describing "brutal cold" in the forecast. "As the polar vortex spins across southeastern Canada, it will direct the flow of cold air across much of the eastern two-thirds of the nation into Wednesday."
The National Weather Service says high temperatures will be nearly 10 degrees below normal for this time of the year. And the wind chill will be fierce.
