Clean Energy Standard Information Breakfast

LOCAL PROGRESS TEAMS UP WITH LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF THE RIVERTOWNS TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE NYS CLEAN ENERGY STANDARD

The League of Women Voters of the Rivertowns is working with Local Progress, a network of hundreds of local elected officials from around the country committed to a strong economy, equal justice, livable cities, and effective government, to present an informational session on the NYS Clean Energy Standard. Local Progress is sponsoring the event.

The session will be held on Tuesday, June 14 from 7:30 – 9:00am at Croton Delicatessen and Pastry, 123 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson. Attendees will be responsible for purchasing their own food or drink items. Leo Wiegman, co-founder and president of Croton Energy Group, Inc., will address how the Clean Energy Standard is designed to meet Governor Cuomo’s mandate that by 2030, 50 percent of electricity consumed in New York must result from clean and renewable energy sources.
This event is free and open to the public.

On Thursday, June 16th, the Public Service Commission has agreed to host the only public hearings to take place in Westchester County on the implementation of a large-scale renewable energy program and a clean energy standard for New York State. The hearing will be held at the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center, 29 Westbrook Drive, Cortlandt Manor, NY, 10567The public hearing schedule is as follows:
2:00pm – Information Session
3;00pm – Public Statement Hearing
6:00pm – Information Session
7:00pm – Public Statement Hearing

In keeping with the League of Women Voters call to fight global warming and transition to a clean energy economy, residents of Westchester County are urged to attend both the informational sessions and the public hearings and to take advantage of the opportunity to make statements on the Clean Energy Standard.
