Ossining Teacher Faces Felony DWI Charge

Police stopped the Cortlandt resident May 14 after receiving a complaint about an erratic driver.

Sal A. Imbimbo, a physical education teacher in the Ossining school district, is due in Cortlandt town court to answer a felony charge of driving while intoxicated.

New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Imbimbo, 50 on May 14.

Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle Imbimbo was operating following an erratic vehicle complaint. While police interviewed the Cortlandt Manor resident, they observed clues that indicated he was intoxicated at the time of the stop.

Imbimbo, 50, was charged with Felony DWI when investigation revealed that he had been convicted of DWI in 2010.

According to The Journal News, the district tried to have him fired in 2010 after he had an altercation with a student, but an arbitrator ruled instead that the district pay for anger-management classes after a 1-month suspension.
