Croton Community Coalition Sponsors Red Carpet Send Off for Prom-Goers

Croton Harmon High School students received the red carpet treatment on prom night from the Croton Community Coalition, including luxury bus transportation to and from the prom. The initiative is designed to recognize the significance of prom as a milestone in the students' lives and encourage them to experience prom in a drug- and alcohol-free way.

About 100 students walked the red carpet before boarding the buses that took them to prom.

“Prom is a very special milestone in a teen's life. The Coalition has been part of their lives for four years, and we wanted to do something to wish them well. Transporting the students by luxury coach gives parents peace of mind that their teens can travel safely,” said Laurie Dean, Chairwoman and Coordinator, Croton Community Coalition.

This is the first time buses were offered by the Coalition to transport the students to and from the prom in Croton. The transportation option was so well received that the Coalition had to charter a second bus to accommodate more students than anticipated. Complimentary water and commemorative sweet treats were provided by the Coalition as well. Croton-on-Hudson police officers Paul Camillieri and Thomas Leonard and members of the Coalition were on hand to wish the promo-goers well.

“The support of the school district and the Croton Police illustrates that, as a community, we care about our Croton teens. We are happy that we were allowed to be a small part of their special occasion,” added Dean.

About the Coalition: The Croton Community Coalition works proactively to keep Croton teens safe and drug-free, and acts as a resource for Croton teens and parents to make informed choices about drugs and alcohol.
