Croton Design Firm Creative Force Behind Successful Brand Stories

Hudson Valley Graphic Design Creates Regional, National and International Logos

Award winning design firm Hudson Valley Graphic Design might be touted as a small local business but lately their design work has been nothing short of immense as seen in the design and creation of some exciting brands marketed nationally, internationally and in well-known retailers. Every successful brand has a story and has a driving force behind their name. For three such companies, Peanut Principle, Honeypie’s Recipes and Rick Sammon Photography, the team at HVGD based in Croton-on-Hudson has been just that and been instrumental in helping to bring the brands full circle.

Peanut butter has been a staple in every kitchen in America for years and with the creation of their gourmet spreads, the Peanut Principle has given everyone a reason to really talk peanut butter. With various flavors and delicious twists to an old favorite, the Peanut Principle can be found on grocery shelves nationwide and locally rooted HVGD was the creative team behind the eye catching logo. After meeting the founders of Peanut Principle at a local farmers market the two businesses had an immediate connection and the creative wheels started in motion. We consider our client the Ben and Jerry’s of the peanut butter world and we knew we had to really make their logo stand out,” said Janeen Violante, founder and lead designer at HVGD. “By taking the logo for Peanut Principle to the next level we were able to really help identify what the brand represents.” The creative team lead by Violante tweaked the existing peanut shaped logo that made the brand name mostly illegible and created a circular logo with a clear, legible typeface. In this particular case the team at HVGD worked exclusively with the client to focus on and create the perfect logo and logo only and were not involved in the actual packaging design. “This is just one example of how we cater our business to the needs of our clients. We can offer the whole branding package or just part of any companies marketing strategy.”

HVGD started their creative journey with another culinary endeavor when Honeypie’s Recipes founder Trish Lobenfeld of Connecticut approached the team about really wanting to grow her unique brand. Together they accomplished just that and today you can find Honeypie’s Recipes on sale online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble and in Williams Sonoma stores nationwide. Originally called “Cooking in Connecticut,” Lobenfeld wanted a new, catchy name and logo to reflect the name change. Having published her first book, Lobenfeld felt it was time to get serious and hire a professional to build “the look” of her brand with her. “Our team met with the founder and discussed her goals and objectives so we could devise a strategic marketing plan for Honeypie’s. We created a circular logo with a scalloped edge that truly depicts a pie, stamping an “H” for Honeypie’s in the center of the logo with utensils on either side,” said Violante. After her brand was developed, and a new website implemented, Lobenfeld took her brand to the next level by having HVGD launch her Social Media journey on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest to further help grow and market the new brand and bring her kitchen right to her customers.

Internationally known photographer Rick Sammon turned to HVGD for help creating the perfect logo for his growing and active photography business. In his profession, this award winning photographer is credited with helping people to use photography to reveal their visual creativity and he knew he needed to portray that in his brand. He turned to the team at HVGD to create a logo that speaks to that part of his business. We created a modern logo that depicted an icon of a human eye that displays the visualization element of his business. Rick Sammon hosts photography workshops that inspire people to make better photographs that reveal their personal visual creativity. The fun and digitally inspired image we created for his logo depicts just that,” said Violante.
