Croton, Ossining Coronavirus Updates: Newest Cases
Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is affecting Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining.
MARCH 31 — Westchester County has 9,967 cases of new coronavirus, according to the update Tuesday morning by the New York state Health Department. The county's health department reports 17 confirmed cases in Croton-on-Hudson and 175 are in Ossining.
The local numbers reflect the actual residents of the municipality, not “zip code” residents who live in an adjacent community, county officials said. In addition to confirming those anomalies, the county lags state numbers by as much as three days, due to state release of data to the county only after the tested individual has been informed of their status.

In his daily news briefing, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the number of cases statewide had risen to 75,795 by Tuesday morning. Of those, 4,975 who were sick enough to be hospitalized have been discharged.

The height of the outbreak is predicted to hit in 7-14 days in New York City and shortly thereafter in Westchester County and on Long Island.

OSSINING, NY —The new coronavirus outbreak in New York and across the nation is having vast impacts in Westchester County, including the closure of schools, most businesses and houses of worship. Restaurants have had to limit business to take-out and delivery.
The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, officially known as COVID-19, continue to rise and additional measures continue to be announced.
There have been 59,513 confirmed cases in New York as of Sunday morning, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in his daily news briefing. Since the beginning of March, 12,075 people have been hospitalized.
New York State has been put on PAUSE: all non-essential workers are directed to work from home and everyone has been required to maintain a 6-foot distance from others in public. Non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason (e.g. parties, celebrations or other social events) are canceled. Sick individuals should not leave their home unless to receive medical care and only after a telehealth visit to determine if leaving the home is in the best interest of their health.

All schools in New York will remain closed through at least April 15 in response to the new coronavirus outbreak, state officials announced Friday.

HELPING
Open Door Family Medical Center is desperately seeking personal protective equipment and medical supplies for patients and staff. The multi-site center not only needs masks, hand sanitizer, shields, gloves, isolation gowns and goggles, but also wipes, isopropyl alcohol, lab coats and thermometers. Homemade masks can be used as well.
The Croton & Ossining Lions Clubs and Grace Hall Ltd., together with other volunteer organizations are sponsoring a Donation Drive for local families/individuals affected by the Corona Virus Pandemic. Croton-on-Hudson: In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, modifications to the Department of Public Works' staffing schedule have been initiated. As a result, metal and electronics pickups have been suspended until further notice. Additionally, yard waste pickups will not begin as scheduled in April. The Village will notify residents when these pickups begin again.Please be advised that DPW office staff is working remotely. Croton-on-Hudson: It has been reported that an unauthorized third party (Doxo) has been attempting to collect payment for utility bills. Please know that this service is not authorized to collect payments for the Village. Residents should use the utility bill payment link located on the Village's website to make secure online payments. As a reminder, quarterly bill payments are due April 15th. If you have any questions regarding your utility bill payment, please call 914-862-1419.
