Croton Police Warn Of Localized Rent 'Relief' Scam
Scammers are always trying to find new and intricate ways to steal your money, village officials said.
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Croton-on-Hudson officials warned residents a new email scam is being conducted by con artists claiming to offer rent and house relief programs in connection with the village.
"Please be cautious whenever you are asked for personal information," they said. "Scam artists tend to prey on the public when they feel they are at the most vulnerable, such as during the holiday season."
Officials advised everyone to be especially vigilant over the next few months.

If you receive a phone call or email that seems suspicious, or someone comes to your door that is not familiar to you, you can call the Police Department non-emergency line at 914-271-5177. If it is an emergency situation, dial 911.
Remember not to give out any personal information in response to a call, text or email, or allow someone into your home if you are not sure of their authority to ask or do so.
