DEC Closes Croton Gorge Unique Area
The scenic path of the Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park is still open.
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — New York State has closed the park on the Croton River known as the Croton Gorge Unique Area.
A DEC spokesman told Patch that the department recently discovered that the only trail to safely access the Croton River in the Croton Gorge Unique Area partially crosses private property.
In an effort to protect public safety and natural resources and respect private land boundaries, DEC is temporarily closing the property until a long-term solution can be implemented.
