Don Farrell Elected To FASNY Board

Forty years with OFD and 29 with the OPD, Farrell is the Sergeant at Arms of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York.

OSSINING, NY — Longtime Ossining resident Donald Farrell has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York. This will be his first term serving on the board, and he will serve a 5-year term.

Farrell has been a member of the Ossining Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years, joining in August of 1979. He became an Assistant Chief in 1999 and served in that role until 2002. Farrell was Chief of Department from 2003 to 2004. He is currently a Deputy Chief in the OFD and is Commissioner of Cataract Hose Company No. 2.

A life member of FASNY, he serves as the Sergeant at Arms of the organization and has been past Chairman on the Firefighter of the Year Committee. Farrell was elected to the board at the 147th Annual Convention Aug. 10 in Syracuse.

He has served as past president of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Association and as past director of the Western New York Volunteer Fireman’s Association.

Farrell has been a member of the Ossining community since 1967, where he lives with his wife Shelly. Outside of volunteering for the Ossining Fire Department, he has had a long history of service to his community in law enforcement. He served for 4 years in the Westchester County Department of Corrections and served 29 years in the Ossining Police Department, where he retired as a Detective Investigator.

“I am honored to be serving on the FASNY Board of Directors,” Farrell said. “I will continue to do what is best for the volunteers across New York State and to keep FASNY going in a positive direction.”
