Is This the Face of Jesus?

Learn about the Shroud of Turin at Maryknoll on April 3.

The history and science of the Shroud of Turin will be shared during a free presentation at the Maryknoll Mission Center in Ossining on Sunday, April 3, 2:30 – 4 p.m. Hosted by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, Shroud Talks will offer a comprehensive presentation about the Shroud that will include full-size replicas and feature the famous negatives of the cloth that were documented more than 30 years ago.

Is the Shroud of Turin the face of Jesus? Did Carbon 14 tests prove the Shroud a fraud? What was its impact on art and what does art tell us about its history? These and many more questions will be asked and discussed by Bill Wingard.

Wingard established Shroud Talks several years ago to present the Shroud's history, discuss the scientific research and to tackle its biggest mystery. Is the Shroud the actual burial cloth of Jesus Christ?

Twenty years of research, coupled with the knowledge and assistance of Barrie Schwortz, the original photographer for the 1978 scientific evaluation of the Shroud, allows Wingard to share with audiences a dynamic presentation that has increased interest in what Pope St. John Paul II termed “the most splendid relic of the Passion and the Resurrection.”
