Girls Inc. Teen-Led Workshop on Racism in Education

High school participants in the Girls Inc. Girls Leadership Council program are conducting a workshop to address race in education this Friday, June 26th at the White Plains Public Library from 1-4PM. The workshop aims to engage the larger Westchester community in meaningful conversation around how racism is systemically perpetuated in our schools. The young women hope to raise awareness around this issue and provoke constructive dialogue with the help of panelist speakers, Dr. Edward Fergus-Arcia of NYU, Guisela Marroquin of the New York Civil Liberties Union, and Samuel North of Ossining High School. The workshop will feature a film screening of the documentary A Tale of Two Schools: Race and Education on Long Island followed by a panel discussion and interactive activities. The workshop is free and open to the public!
