Hazardous Outlooks Changed For Hudson Valley

Here are the latest details plus an hour-by-hour look at what to expect.

The National Weather Service has altered its hazardous weather outlook for the lower Hudson Valley and has added a new one for the Mid-Hudson. Forecasters are no longer predicting severe thunderstorms for the Hudson Valley Tuesday and Tuesday night. Instead, the NWS says the region should prepare for some flooding.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester:

A few heavy downpours are expected today into tonight. Localized flash flooding is possible, with urban and poor drainage flooding more likely.

For Dutchess and Ulster counties:

Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected today. Locally heavy rainfall is possible which could lead to isolated minor urban and poor drainage flooding.

Clusters of thunderstorms that were ongoing across the Midwest and Ohio Valley on Monday night will continue to track east and southeast as the day progresses, passing to the south of New York City.

Mainly dry conditions are forecast for Wednesday as high pressure builds from the northwest. However, clouds linger, along with a possible shower. Shower chances continue Thursday as well, and temperatures will remain seasonable through this mid week period.

As you can see, rain is possible all day Tuesday, tapering off Wednesday.
