Hudson Valley Forecast: First Snow Expected Thanksgiving Week
Snow showers are predicted for Tuesday, and some forecasters warn stormy weather could mess up travel for Thanksgiving.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY – The season's first snow showers are in the forecast for Thanksgiving week in the region — and some forecasters warn a coming storm could make travel a mess before the holiday.
The first snow showers are forecasted for the region on Tuesday in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester, according to the National Weather Service.
However, seven days out, forecasters differ on the severity.

"We could be looking at a huge mess and a real wrench in holiday travel," said Jon Porter, AccuWeather's chief meteorologist.
But "the pattern looks more active next week, so it's a possibility. But as of right now, a storm looks unlikely," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

The bad weather will follow a warmup that's expected to see the Hudson Valley bask in temperatures as high as 65 degrees on Thursday. Just a day later, they'll drop by 20 degrees, the NWS said.
The cold will continue into the weekend and next week. The National Weather Service is expecting temperatures to dip as much as 15 degrees below average in the East.
