The Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence
in Infants and Young Children

The Expulsion rate in preschools in New York State continues to rise as professionals are not given the proper tools to address challenging behaviors found in young children. As an effort to eradicate preschool expulsion The Pyramid Model has been designed. New York State is now becoming a Pyramid Model State
The Pyramid Model conference series will provide the participant with the tools necessary to help prevent and manage challenging behavior while guiding children to learn conflict resolution strategies and develop appropriate coping skills. This conference presents detailed steps from setting the environment all the way to implementing effective strategies for children who require intensive intervention. The Pyramid Model provides the framework for the implementation of practices needed to promote young children’s social and emotional competence and effectively address challenging behavior. It uses evidence-based practices to create a system that best supports social emotional competence in young children.
