Letter to the Editor: NYers Can’t Afford “Free” College Tuition

To the Editor:
In typical fashion, the Governor proposed the creation of a massive new program while offering no way to pay for it.

You don’t need a college degree to know that nothing is free. At a time when so many are being priced out of our state, it’s simply outrageous that the Governor would suggest forcing millions of New Yorkers - many of them firmly planted in the middle class and struggling to stay here - to pay for state college tuition.
People deserve a less expensive state that makes everything including college more affordable. That would create a more competitive economy that keeps kids here once they graduate.
