Maryknoll Fathers, Brothers Joins #GivingTuesday

This year, the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers is participating in #GivingTuesday for the first time.

#GivingTuesday was started by the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. It is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday that follows Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season as many people focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since the 2012 inaugural year, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy while connecting diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world.

December 1 also is World AIDS Day and Maryknoll supports several programs that assist people who suffer from this terrible disease. Since 1911, the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers have followed Jesus in serving the poor and others in need around the world.

Web, Social Media Promotion

For several weeks, Maryknoll has promoted its new #GivingTuesday partnership on its Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin pages. The most recent posts featured the one-week countdown to #GivingTuesday.

On Monday, November 23, Maryknoll unveiled a new image that advances the organization’s active participation in both #GivingTuesday and World AIDS Day. This image now appears on the Maryknoll website home page. Clicking on the image delivers visitors to the page “Join Us on a Day for Giving Back” that focuses on #GivingTuesday and Maryknoll’s programs in 23 countries.

Posts on Maryknoll social media will appear this coming Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday to create additional attention for #GivingTuesday and World AIDS Day. On Monday, Maryknoll donors will receive an eblast to engage them in the conversation about #GivingTuesday and World AIDS Day, and to seek their support.
