Listen: Phone Scam Draws Cops' Ire On Facebook
Seems the phony phone call went to the mom of someone at the Ossining Police Department, and now ain't nobody happy.

OSSINING, NY — Ossining police are very, very interested in the operation being run from 646-396-9760. Because somebody pretending to be them is running a scam. And one of their mommas was a target.
"Have a seat, we need to talk," they told their readers on Facebook, before describing a new phone scam apparently going the rounds. It purports to be from the police department, calling to discuss "serious allegations" before taking "legal action."
"First of all, if there were matters pending against you, why would someone need to talk to you first? It’s either happening or it’s not," police said.

An early adapter of social media, starting with Facebook, the department quickly became known for its quirky sense of humor.
Last year, it won Most Innovative Use of Social Media/ Citizen Engagement in New York from Government Technology magazine.
