OSSINING, NY (October 17, 2016) - What do Emoji Girl, Scare-lor Swift, and Vito the Pizza Guy have in common? They are among the two dozen scarecrows that popped up around Ossining this month, as part of Ossining Girl Scouts third annual Scarecrow-a-Palooza. Each scarecrow was crafted by an Ossining Girl Scout Troop to liven up October and celebrate the season. There are over 500 girls in the Ossining Girl Scout community — one of the largest Girl Scout communities in the seven-county Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson Council.
Collaborating with the Ossining Parks and Recreation Department, whose dedicated staff dug the holes for the scarecrows, Ossining Girl Scout troops erected their creations during the weekend of October 15-16. You'll have until November 5-6 to see them all; that's when the troops will take down their creations.
“Our two prior scarecrow events were enormously successful. Check our website soon to get driving routes so you know where to see this year's scarecrows,” said Rosie Foster, Ossining Girl Scout Community Director. She co-leads the Ossining Girl Scout Community with fellow Community Director Rose Marie Jost.
