Police ID Woman Crushed as Car Careened Down Hudson Avenue Saturday

Investigators are looking into the crash, in which one car pushed another into a group of pedestrians and sideswiped a state police cruiser.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Police have identified a victim of Saturday's deadly accident on Hudson Avenue in Peekskill. City resident Zoila Zhingri died. She was 69. She and a 71-year-old man and a 2-year-old boy were crushed when a parked car was pushed into them by an out-of-control driver.

The boy and the man remain in critical condition, the Peekskill Post reported.

The Post also reported that city police are collaborating with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office to determine the speed of the car that caused the deadly crash.

The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. when, as the victims were approaching Washington Street from Hudson Avenue.

A state trooper was at the scene, having just conducted a traffic stop on Hudson Avenue, said New York State Police Troop K Public Information Officer Melissa McMorris. His car was sideswiped.
