Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra Takes the Stage on February 7th

Concert Features a "Melting Pot" of Music with Dvořák's New World Symphony

America has been called a “melting pot” of peoples and cultures. The RSO Concert on Saturday, February 7th, is the embodiment of this American ideal, with a Romanian cellist, a Bulgarian conductor, and a symphony that celebrates our nation in music!

Romanian born cellist Mihai Marica joins the RSO on February 7th as soloist in a performance of Tchaikovsky’s virtuosic and lyric masterpiece, Rococo Variations for Cello and Orchestra. Having performed worldwide to critical acclaim, Mihai currently resides in New York and is a member of the Amphion String Quartet which is in residence with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

In his final season with the RSO, Assistant Conductor Petko Dimitrov is a native of Bulgaria. Petko will be on the podium for a performance of Dvorak’s all-time audience favorite, the New World Symphony. Written while Dvorak was Director of the Nation Conservatory of Music in New York, it is a synthesis of “Old World” form and style with the spirit and energy of the “New World.”
