The Scarecrows Are Back in Town!
Ossining Girl Scouts Annual Scarecrow-a-Palooza Returns
It's that time of year again…when you do a double-take at the Farmer's Market, slow down a bit as you cruise by Main Street on Route 9, or pay a special visit to Louis Engel Park to see more than just the sunset over the Hudson River.
That's right…it's time for Ossining Girl Scouts' annual Scarecrow-a-Palooza! You'll see this year's fresh, bold creations at the sites above as well as all around town. From fairies and unicorns to "just married" brides and grooms—and new this year, a 3D emoji (you'll know it when you see it!)—the 2017 scarecrows are sure to fright and delight viewers of all ages. Check out ossininggirlscouts.org to download printable driving directions and a fun scavenger hunt. The scarecrows will remain up through the first weekend of November.
"The Hudson Valley has become a haven for those who love to celebrate Halloween, and Ossining Girl Scouts is right there, getting into the spirit!" said Rosie Foster, an Ossining Girl Scout Service Unit Manager and leader of an 11th grade troop.

Founded in 1917 with just eight girls, Ossining Girl Scouts is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. "Our community continues to grow, with over 500 girls each year, and this year they came up with some terrific ideas," noted Rose Marie Jost, an Ossining Girl Scout Service Unit Manager and leader of an 8th grade troop.
